Jennifer Van “Seethe”

Jennifer Van’s photography is centered on the emotional expression and the human form. Van’s

interest in the viewer’s perception and interpretation of her work is considered through her

artistic process. With her emotive photographs, she ignites an emotional reaction within the

viewer, which is derived from their own personal histories.

Jennifer Van stated, “It is wonderful to be a part of Strata Gallery and I am so excited to be

involved in the Santa Fe Community. My work is about the fluidity of the world around us,

ephemerality, and how we connect with one another. It is about emotional expression and how

the figure is presented and interpreted. Through my photographic process I ask the viewer to

question how we are perceived, to not only to listen, but to look.”

Jennifer Van received her BFA in Graphic Arts and a BA in Art History from California State

University Stanislaus. Her work has been exhibited throughout California. This is her first solo

show in New Mexico.
