March 21 – April 1, 2023
Reception: Friday, March 24th, 5-7pm.
Strata Gallery presents, Poems from Kay Pacha, a solo exhibition by 2022-23 Emerging Member, Rosalba Breazeale. The exhibition opens March 21st, with a special reception on March 24th from 5-7pm.
Rosalba Breazeale’s multidisciplinary practice interweaves alternative process photography, installation, and fiber art while emphasizing the importance of material sustainability. Breazeale’s identity as a Queer, Ashkenazi, transnational adoptee from Peru is integral to initiating a visual dialogue around diaspora, cultural resilience, and interspecies relations.
Rosalba Breazeale stated, “Participating in Strata Gallery’s emerging artist program has been an immensely helpful experience. It’s wonderful to have the support of a gallery that encourages experimental artists with a diverse set of perspectives. I visualize stories of resilience. I collaborate with plant relatives, because the same violence that humans inflict on each other, is also inflicted on the land. My work imagines a world in which all beings live in symbiosis. We must learn to do so not only to survive, but also to thrive.”
Rosalba Breazeale received their MFA from the University of New Mexico. Their work has been exhibited internationally, most recently in England with the London Alternative Photography Collective.
